Listening to audiobooks is a great way relax and it's also a great way to become a better reader. Yes, you read that right. Listening to audiobooks helps to build your word knowledge, which is a key component in reading proficiency. If you listened to an audiobook for 20 minutes a day, you would expose yourself to 1,800,000 words over the course of one year. That's a lot of words! Students can start listening today by downloading the Tales2Go app in Self Service. Then use the slideshow learn how to set up your account. Want to read and listen at the same time? Search tales2go in our library catalog to see what books we also have in the library. There is also a special collection in Destiny Discover with recommendations of some of our favorite Tales2Go books. May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and a time to honor the historical and cultural contributions Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have made to the United States. In the library, we are encouraging students to read a book by an author of Asian American or Pacific Islander decent. See some of the titles below for ideas about what to read. You can also earn a Blenders gift certificate if you review a book by an Asian American or Pacific Islander author and submit it on Destiny Discover before May 30th. See Ms. Woods in the library if you have any questions or need more book recommendations.
